0

An absolute good news for teachers working in or posted to Rural Areas or deprived schools in Ghana.

The Ghana Education Service (G.E.S) and National Teaching Council (NTC) has collaborated to reward teachers who are working in or have accepted postings to rural areas or deprived schools in Ghana.

The management of the National Teaching Council (NTC) has disclosed in the Teacher’s Professional Development Framework that any teacher that will accept postings to rural or deprived areas will be given Free Continuous Professional Development Training worth 10 CPD points.

The majority of teachers do not want to accept postings to rural or deprived areas making the deprived Schools lack teachers. This goes a long way to widen the gap between the town students and rural students.

To motivate and provide incentives to rural or deprived teachers or make teaching in the rural areas attractive, the management of the National Teaching Council and the Ghana Education Service has officially come out to provide Continuous Professional Development Training for all teachers in deprived communities free of charge which will attract 10 CPD points for the participating Teachers.

This mechanism is to help retain teachers in deprived areas as may be classified by the employer and the employees.
